Dear all,The last few months I have been busy explaining people what an Online Community is and what it can mean for an organisation like PDO.Online Communities are very young and modern tools which enable people to collaborate while living far from eachother. They enable people to share information, respond to information and create new common knowledge and understanding about several subjects related to the purpose of the Community. Thanks to this quality of the tool, people feel more connected to eachother and eachothers lives because they can interact when and where they want with eachother. In short; an Online Community enables you to work together with people across the world in a sense like they live just next door,.... with one exeption! They don't live next door! What does this mean for people who joined a Community like this one? After you subscribed to the Community you probably uploaded a nice picture of yourself and wrote a nice biography about your life, friends and so on. By doing this you shared your personal information with others, with who you became 'online friends' or not. Some of these friends live nearby, in your school, village, or country, while others lives 10000 kilometers away from you. While some of these people you are able to meet during your stroll around the school in the evening, others you can only actually meet in person when you travel 2 or 3 days or even more. The true purpose of a community like this one, is to bridge this difference. It is a technical tool to connect to who are nearby AND to those who are far away.I want to share a secret with you,... Creating this Community as a technical tool is actually the easy part! The most difficult, inspiring AND rewarding part is yours to be done! And that is: to Include people who are far, far, far away in your daily thoughts and perception as if they live close to you. This seems simple but can be very difficult. For example: When I come home from work in the evening it's very likely that I tell my girlfriend about a new idea I had today for the Golden House for example. It maybe even come to my mind to sent an email to Nico, Frederique and Tim because they work together with me. These people live close (nearby) to me and because of that automatically I feel connected to them and automatically I communicate with them. How much more inspiring would it be though if I would share this new idea to Yi Mon of the Golden House and to everyone who could be interested, by posting it on this Community? Then even people who I may not know at all could get inspired by it, and start to help to realise it. Even people who will join the community in the future will be able to read about my idea.So I ask myself,....' What could actually happen if?' I not only include people who live inside my daily environment into my life? But also include people outside my daily environment into my life on a daily basis? This is one thing that this community is about. I invite you to join me in this discussion, Frank

So wonderful your idea thoughts and creation of this community. Myself I anticipated to involve with my ideas as much as possible. Actually this community we all need to participate with actual and reality of our life and experiences.
Another thing is we should have ritual discussion particularly about Phaung Daw Oo and other networking related organizations and in personally.
Hope this community will be the main popular among PDO related people and other things through sharing of everybody thoughts.
Best Regards
Moe Myint

Social media facilitates relationships; community has an objective
As stated earlier, social networks and communities are very different. In the illustration above the primary purposes and enablers of both social networks and communities are shown
.A social network’s primary purpose is creating and fostering relationships, and the primary enabler is common activities. For example, Facebook enables people to connect with one another, but the relationships that are created typically have commonality between activities: school, work, sports, etc.
Contrast this with a community, whose primary purpose is a business objective (e.g., product support.) The enabler for a community is the relationships that form to meet business goals. For example, a community like Psion Teklogix’s provides support to customers, but the enabler is the relationships that form between customers, prospects, partners, and experts as they ask and answer questions.
The Characteristics of Community Excellence 8 Social fans are an asset that you can build with a campaign and then tap into again in the futureas long as they remain engaged with your brand.
The purposes of social networks and online communities are different. Online communities are part of the social ecosystem Does this mean that a business should not have a social network, but instead only have a community? No. World class communities recognize that social media is a newchannel for engaging customers; and that social networks complement communities via sourcing members, providing a holistic view of social interaction in one central place.
The primary purpose of a social network is social — to facilitate relationships between people who share common interests — while a community exists to solve a specific business problem through relationships.
P.S: Dear Frank, I'm thinking about your post and will reply soon.

Hi Frank,
I mean ritual is we should have regular which we have to do as responsibility for our one world cooperation. Right? To happen this kind of work we all need to promote all people from PDo to get better result of PDO activities.
Thanks
I am thinking and wondering that, our community is a little bit slower than we expected. What should we do for motivate and activated by everyone???? I am so excited for our community.
Hello Moe Myint and Jerry,
I would lik eto know something. Last week I installed a server for PDO in Singapore. On that server webmail.phaungdawoo.org is running. I could transfer the Community to that server as well. The only thing I really want to know, before I put a lot of time in this project, is if the webmail on that server is running fast or not. Can you please test this from Mandalay at different times of the day and let me know the results?
Kind regards, Frank
I am testing, for day-I it seem to be good. But I will keep you inform for the web mail.
